ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

RCCDC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation established in 1998 to coordinate economic development activities for Roosevelt County, New Mexico.  Primary funders are the City of Portales, Roosevelt County, and Eastern New Mexico University, with supplemental donations received from private investors.

RCCDC’s primary concern has historically been business recruitment.  In spring of 2014, RCCDC’s operational emphasis shifted to assisting in the expansion and retention of existing businesses and developing new businesses from within the community.

Recruiting new businesses will remain a central component of RCCDC’s business development strategy.  But, recruitment will no longer be RCCDC’s primary operational purpose.  The new RCCDC directive is to help any existing business or potential new business owner with overcoming operational challenges, while realistically assessing market forces and balancing community imperatives.

Instead of searching outside Roosevelt County for economic stimulation, this new approach will focus daily effort on strengthening the local business community and establishing new businesses from the pool of local residents.
